Assessment and prediction of coal abrasiveness

The term 'gross abrasive index' (GAI) was used to represent the abrasion index of the coal at moisture levels exceeding the air-dry moisture content. In all cases examined, GAI>IAI. ISO 12900:2015(en), Hard coal ? Determination of abrasiveness

Introduction. The abrasiveness of coal is recognized as a factor in coal operations, from mining to utilization, requiring a standard method of measurement and evaluation, as some coals are more abrasive than others. The interaction between coal and conveying, storage, and crushing equipment results in component wear.standard method [37] are erosive, not abrasive; loose coal particles act on the bar's surface with a speed of about 15.4 ms − 1 . Abstract. The abrasive properties of coal were measured in terms of the content, composition and physical properties of the coal mineral matter, and the grindability and bulk density of the coal. For a limited range of coals and their associated relative density fractions, these properties were related to abrasion index (AI) by an empiricalGrindability index of coal is an important technological parameter to understand the behaviour and assess the relative hardness of coals of varying ranks and grades during comminution. Influence of different dispersants on rheological behaviors of coal

To improve the efficiency of the gasification or combustion process of coal water slurry (CWS), it is significant to optimize the rheological properties and increase the solid concentration of CWS. Particularly, preparing CWS from low quality coal remains a peculiarly intriguing subject due to the large reserve andcoal [1].To study the abrasion of coals, an index namely abrasion index (AI) which has been used to assess the abrasive nature of the thermal coal was established first by Yancey, Geer and Price (YGP) in 1951 using YGP test rig. Over the years there have been some modifications to this method by both mining houses and coal users which haveApplication of Neural Networks Technique for Predicting of

The relationship between excluded mineral matter and the abrasion index

Fig. 2(a) shows how the Abrasion Index of the coal/mineral mixtures varied as a function of the wt% addition of quartz and pyrite in the <50 μm, and 50–100 size ranges. If the quartz and pyrite are considered on a wt% addition basis, the quartz is seen to be effectively twice as abrasive as pyrite. Results indicated that coal weathering renders coals less abrasive, compared to unweathered coals. It was concluded that AI and HGI are experimentally dependent; excluded and included minerals were equally abrasive; and three-body abrasive wear was established to be the main wear during grinding in an abrasion index tester pot.Coal characteristics that lead to abrasion during grinding
